On the nOse - Logline

Fadil is prepared to approach his longtime crush, Alessia, at a house party, but a gigantic pimple grows on his nose upon her arrival.

What awaits the viewers?

'On the nOse' is a delicious concoction of tween comedy, romance, drama, and a dash of action to garnished with fine absurdism. This party movie is written for the Gen Z, by the Gen Z, nitpicking general as well as personal observations at the parties by the writer-director, Rahul Gandhi.

There are five key characters in the film-

Fadil: Fadil is an anxious, goofy, impulsive, and childish, but charming and affable 20-year old. He is a regular skinny guy who is extremely conscious of his appearance. He is insecure, making him ignore his surroundings when faced with an inconvenience. This makes him self-indulgent. He is massively crushing on Alessia in his trademark hopeless romanticism.

- Alessia: Alessia is 22 years old with a complex personality. She is in a unhappy relationship with Brendan, but doesn't speak up. She also has a terrible drinking capacity, which ultimately makes her stand up for herself. She is Fadil's long-time crush.

- Martha: Martha is a chubby, bubbly, assertive 20-year-old. She is Fadil's roommate and his voice of reason. She is quick-witted, blunt, and unfiltered in opining on Fadil, but is a caring friend underneath. She swoons over Natalie, the party host.

- Natalie: Natalie, 21, is a free-spirited party animal, who is the host and life of the house party. She has a commanding presence but doesn't mind making a move on her muse. She has Martha's attention and vice versa.

- Brendan: Brendan, 24, is a typical gym bro with his narcissism bigger and compassion smaller than his muscles. He is a possessive boyfriend, who is also conscious of his 'hunk' reputation, which makes him a jerk.

- Party attendees: It is important to highlight the essence of extras in this film. The frame will constantly be filled with randomness ensuing in the background, around the above mentioned characters, thanks to these wild people.

The origin of the idea- Inside the writer's mind

The key to the success of a film in this genre is relatability, and On the nOse is like a segment of my journal entries.

The story is inspired by my own misadventures with acne and the social awkwardness it generates. The pimple is only a metaphor for a wall of insecurities that restricts us from truly showing ourselves to the world and ourselves. The film's ultimate goal is to make people feel comfortable in their own skins, but it won't take the boring, preachy route because that is like a science lecture- if you do not relate it with practical examples, your audience is going to sleep with their eyes open. On the nOse would rather be equipped with an insane level of whacky absurdism that addresses people and says, "Come BURST your bubble"(pun intended).

To get someone onboard with the idea, it is important to understand your target audience, and I had that very clear in my head from the start. The screenplay takes a lot of inspiration from films like Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs the world, American Pie, Submarine, etc.

Why should you fund us?

"We prOmIsE tO mAke tHe besT fiLm yoU HaVe evEr SEen!", "wE aRe VerY dRiveN", "We aRe a bUNch of hArdwOrKinG sTudEntS", and other cries- that is exactly what we want to steer clear from.

The script is solid and inventive, and was GREENLIT for production by our professors from the word go, we have the primary crew ready with assistants, and most of the casting is in the final shortlisting. So, what do we need your money for?
