We're raising £3,000 to develop the first ethical genome editing simulation platform—a space where science meets responsibility. CRISERNA allows researchers, students, and innovators to simulate gene editing experiments and evaluate ethical outcomes before stepping into the lab. Your support will help build this revolutionary tool and bring genome editing into a more conscious and transparent future.
👥 Who are we?
We’re a multidisciplinary team of scientists, educators, and innovators with expertise spanning cancer research, genome editing, bioinformatics, and ethical AI. Our project is led by:
Dr. Muharrem Okan Cakir – Cancer Therapeutics Researcher, Founder of CRISERNA, with expertise in 3D organoid modelling, genome editing, and bioethics.
Prof. Mustafa Özdoğan – Consultant Oncologist and visionary clinical researcher, contributing deep insight into translational oncology and personalized medicine.
Prof. Betül Karademir Yılmaz – Expert in organoid systems and omics technologies, with a strong background in 3D culture and translational bioengineering.
Prof. Uğur Bilge – Data scientist and academic leader with extensive experience in systems biology, bioinformatics, and AI-driven gene target discovery.
Together, our mission is to build a platform where innovation and responsibility meet, shaping the future of genome editing through simulation, education, and ethics.

Gene editing is transforming science—but without ethical foresight, its power could outpace our wisdom. That’s why we’re creating CRISERNA: the first platform to model genome editing procedures with built-in ethical assessment tools, powered by AI.
We believe that before editing life’s code, we must ask: “Not just what can we do, but what should we do?”

Gene editing is no longer science fiction—it’s now in classrooms, labs, and clinics. Yet very few tools help users understand the real-world consequences before making a change to DNA.

💡 How will you be helping?
Every donation makes a difference! The funds we raise will support key parts of our project; they will be distributed across the following categories:
🔹 Platform Development & Hosting (£1,200) To cover initial software setup, secure cloud hosting, and server costs for running CRISERNA simulations.
🔹 Toolkit Design (£800) For creating the educational toolkit including explainer infographics, teaching modules, visual/graphic design support, and publishing (both digital and printed formats).
🔹 Prototype Module Build (£700) To build the first functional CRISERNA simulation module, integrate AI-based off-target prediction, and set up a testing environment.
🔹 Communication & Outreach (£300) For campaign video, explainer graphics, and outreach materials to share the project with students, researchers, and institutions.
❗️Please Note: All pricing is rounded to approximate values, as they are not final. However, the listed figures represent the estimated minimum funding required to complete the CRISERNA prototype and toolkit.

- Build an ethics-CRISPR decision tree
- Translate the platform into 3 languages
- Offer free workshops to 10 underfunded schools
