Christmas as a KU Cares student can be difficult…

Imagine you’ve had a challenging Journey to University, You made it through your first term with all the highs and lows, but as the term ends, you're worried about spending Christmas alone, or caring for loved ones...

However, at Kingston our KU Cares students will receive a small Christmas gift and card given by you and others from the Kingston Alumni Community to help them feel supported over the winter break. Your donation will help us send a small Christmas gift to our KU Cares students.

Give £15 to share a Christmas gift with a Kingston University KU Cares student.

It's the small things…

What KU Cares students value is the small acts of kindness from the KU Cares team. It’s the handwritten card at their graduation, the check-ins during a difficult period in their lives, the chance to meet as a group for support.

It is these small acts that are often the hardest to maintain in a world of budgetary pressures. By sending a small BearHugs gift, we know it will give them a boost at this time of year. It shows that the KU Cares team and the whole Kingston community is here for them all through the year.

To fulfil 70 gifts for KU Cares students currently studying at Kingston, we need to raise £1,050.

Your gift of £15 will enable a KU Cares student at Kingston to receive a Christmas gift.

You can also share your message to our KU Cares students when you make a donation. Thank you so much.

More about KU Cares

KU Cares students often lack a family support network to help buffer emotional or financial problems, the increases in the cost of living (not matched by student loans) and have unique challenges at university - such as finding year-round accommodation. The effect can be seen in national university drop-out rates, which for care leavers and the most disadvantaged are up to 38% higher than their peers.*

KU Cares carefully designed programme of pastoral care and financial support helps to bridge these gaps to enable students to thrive during their studies at Kingston University, and includes a dedicated KU Cares team, KU Cares bursary, and priority for a place in halls for 365 days a year. Simply, this support means more students succeeding!

Any additional funding received will go towards other activities in the KU Cares programme.
