Wormhole is a psychological experimental film exploring themes of grief, guilt, and loneliness.

A short summary of your project

Wormhole is a psychological experimental film exploring themes of grief, guilt, and loneliness. Drawing from Jacques Derrida’s notion of the ghost as a formation of both the past and the future, the film follows Albert, a middle-aged man in London grieving the recent loss of his mother. Overwhelmed by sympathy and unable to cope with his emotional turmoil, Albert retreats to a secluded beach in England. Isolated and burdened by memory, he begins to experience haunting visions—an imagined presence born from his fractured mind. This ghostly figure, ambiguous and undefined, becomes both a mirror and a mystery, reflecting Albert’s inner descent and his yearning for meaning amid loss.

My Story

I’m raising £1200 to complete Wormhole, an experimental short film about a man haunted by grief, guilt, and memory. It’s a quiet, haunting piece that blends psychological realism with surreal imagery, and will resonate with anyone who has experienced loss. This project explores the emotional aftershocks of death—and what it means to be left behind.Hi, I’m Aalisha Kundu, a writer-director based in London with a passion for experimental cinema and poetic storytelling. Wormhole is a deeply personal project, and I’m working with an incredible team of emerging filmmakers, designers, and performers to bring it to life. Our crew includes cinematographers, production designers, editors from India, England, Mainland China and Taiwan, and an actor committed to making emotionally honest and visually stunning work.

My Project

Wormhole is more than a film—it's an atmospheric journey into the fractured mind of someone grieving. We’re inspired by philosophical ideas (Derrida’s hauntology), and by the psychological terrain explored in films like Solaris, The Babadook, and Under the Skin. This isn’t a horror film—it’s a ghost story in the metaphorical sense. The ghost is Albert’s fractured memory, his longing, his regret. The story follows Albert, a middle-aged man who escapes to a remote beach after the death of his mother. As he isolates himself, strange visions begin to surface—possibly supernatural, possibly imagined. These visions become both a mystery and a mirror, forcing Albert to confront himself.

We believe this story matters—because it speaks to the universal, messy, complicated process of grieving, and the need to find meaning even in despair. We’re making a high-concept, small-budget psychological short film that combines naturalistic performance with dreamlike, surreal visuals.

It's important to us because we want to challenge the usual depictions of grief. We want to give voice to what can't be easily spoken. By supporting Wormhole, you’re backing independent cinema, emerging voices, and risk-taking art. You’re helping a story get told that would otherwise be invisible. And your donation will directly fund things that show up on screen—from beach shoots to original sound design to the final colour grade.
