Grace returns home to help her mother grieve her father's death, only to uncover hidden truths about her parent's marriage that force her to reevaluate her own strained relationship.
SYNOPSIS
When Grace returns to her childhood home after the sudden death of her father, she is prepared to support her mother, Helen, through the grieving process. Expecting to find a shattered widow, Grace is stunned to discover Helen is unexpectedly at peace, even thriving in the wake of her husband’s passing. Confused and determined to help her mother confront her supposed grief, she embarks on a mission but fails.
As Grace navigates her mother’s apparent indifference, she uncovers the long-hidden truth about her parents’ marriage. Helen reveals a past where the outward appearance of happiness masked deep-seated unhappiness and longing for freedom. This revelation forces Grace to confront her own strained marriage, drawing unsettling parallels between her parents’ relationship and her own.
As Grace helps her mother reclaim her life, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and reevaluating her own relationship. Why Don't You Cry is a short drama film about exploring grief, familial bonds, and the complexities of love.
