OVERVIEW

Welcome to our crowdfunding page for Rockpools: A short drama set on the South East coast of England that explores seaside nostalgia, climate change, grief, and the housing crisis in Sussex. It mixes dreamy nostalgia with a grittier reality, as two siblings navigate their place in the world after the death of their mother.

WHY THIS STORY MATTERS

As someone who grew up in Sussex, this story is very personal to me. Like a lot of people, I have a strong sense of nostalgia and admiration for the sea. Our shared love of the sea is one reason that has made towns in the South East a desirable place to live, yet we continue to pollute our waters we admire, and I have watched first hand as local communities are pushed out by unaffordable housing and limited options. Rockpools is a story about hope and the strength that families have even in their hardest moments. It offers a moment of reflection to think about where we have come from, and the resilience we need to carry on. 

Film has an incredible ability to capture moments in time, but it's also a brilliant way of sending a message. I hope that with your financial support, we can tell a story that wishes for a coast that doesn't just live in our memories, but in the memories of future generations too.

Where will the money go?

As a group of early-career filmmakers, your financial support will not just improve the quality of this project but help the careers of all the amazing creatives involved. All money past our target helps us to raise funds towards film festivals and further production costs.
