A short sci-fi adventure film with bounty hunters, blasters and spaceships.

    SUMMARY

Hi peeps, bounty hunters and sci-fi lovers! I’m Jadyn, the creator of Outpost 9. My team and I are raising funds to bring our graduation short film to life. We need a minimum of £900 but would prefer £1200 to pay for more vfx assets, but anything helps!

Outpost 9 is a sci-fi adventure story about alliances, freedom, betrayal, and bounty hunters who are all after the same prize: knowledge. It is set in the Proxima Sector of the Hyperian Galaxy in a detention facility on the planet Deshtar, a long way from Earth. It is also known as the Greenscreen Studios on Knights Park Campus at Kingston University London.

And with a few VFX Magicians to work their wonder it will be a visual masterpiece but we need your help.

    WHY OUTPOST 9?

Apart from being a fun project with blasters, swords and spaceships?

The cast for this film are all experienced supporting artistes, actors in training and dedicated aspiring professionals at the beginning of their journey.  To take these performers and create something as a team all from the same level of experience will be an experiment of equality with the idea that no performer should feel imposter syndrome or be put off by those negative thoughts actors sometimes have smother them. And, it will be done in a fun and safe manner utilising imagination, technical skills and with an excellent DOP called Nail who has action film experience and a great eye for story and visual elements.  The sound team includes an amazing sound wizard called Eunseo and two great composers, Sophia and Aryaman.

      VFX

Using multiple assets from credited vfx artists, both paid for and under the creative commons license, we will create amazing backgrounds using a mixture of programmes including after effects, blender and unreal engine.

        MY STORY

The basis for this film idea came from that I myself am an aspiring female actor with a recent BASSC in Single Rapier and another in Broadsword. I have been doing Supporting Artist film work since 2008 and I’ve been a professional Star Wars costumer since 2009.

A few years ago I was injured, and there were times I wondered if I would wake up the next day which led to a re-evaluation of my life goals. I understood then how much I loved acting but I was too scared to try before. Once I started on my path, attending lessons, devouring the casting director Wendy Alane Wright’s YouTube videos, watching acting masterclasses (Sir Michael Caine's) and reading many books, I realised I needed to take action on my own. I failed to see how hard it is to find stories as fun as this one with females in lead roles, using blasters, swords and getting to be something other than regular characters in a real-based world.

As an actor, writer and director, I want to explore different versions of myself that have something more to offer. Do you remember the joy of playacting as a child? What did you want to be then? Someone’s next door neighbour who works as a cleaner or did you want to play as an astronaut, pirate or a Jedi? That’s why I want to create opportunities for those who love what I love and also offer a chance to others in a similar position so we can help each other succeed.

That, and play with blasters, swords and ride in a spaceship.

        WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?

The estimated main bulk of the budget is for:

            ·         Costumes - £200

            ·         Props - £100

            ·         Set Design - £45

            ·         Makeup - £55

            ·         Travel Expenses -  £350

            ·         Catering £100 - Snacks only

            ·         VFX Assets if raise over the minimum needed - £200

Any excess would mean being able to pay people for their time other than expenses, get better costumes made, better assets, and some would also go towards film festival entries.
