Our film is about a woman called Michelle, a young American dancer living in London, painfully co-dependent on her best friend Marianne who suddenly moves away with short notice, leaving Michelle lost and struggling to connect with people and the world around her.

Who are we?

Hi, my name is Harvie Slater and I’ll be writing and directing the film. I have been making films since the age of 12 and have been enamored with cinema for as long as I can remember. Empathy, I believe, is cinema’s most powerful tool and it is empathy that is the emotional engine of this story that the crew and I are so excited to tell. 

Michelle and Her Friend is a story about connection and dependency told through the eyes of Michelle, a young American dancer living in London, painfully co-dependent on her best friend Marianne who suddenly moves away with short notice, leaving Michelle lost and struggling to connect with people and the world around her. 

Michelle and Her Friend came out of a desire to collaborate with Cecelia Gries, who will play Michelle. Celia is a terrific actress, trained dancer, a friend and an incredibly talented person who will bring so much to this film.  The film is very personal to me, and I can't wait to tell this story with the help and collaboration of some very talented people!  

Hi, I’m Joseph Atkinson and I’m producing and editing this project. I’m excited to work on this project with Harvie, as we've had great collaborations in the past and he has a clear passion into the idea for this film, and I’m looking forward to help him bring it to light the best we can.

Where will the money go?

If we were to reach our goal of £500 which would be generously matched to £1000, we’ll be able to make our film with the best quality that we can, using it to finely allocate a budget for the production that would equate to something like this;

  • Production design £150
  • Locations £150
  • Catering £100
  • Transportation £100
  • Equipment £100
