WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?

We are raising money for shooting a 10 minutes short fiction graduation/thesis film for the MA Filmmaking course.

"Lost Letters And Where Do They Go" tells the story of Rupert Bell, a 7 year-old aspiring pilot, who is bored at home when the mailman arrives with a miss-addressed letter. When Rupert ventures out onto the streets on a mission to find the right addressee - an apparent grumpy old lady named Clarabella - he finds out that first impressions can be miss-leading and that they actually share a mutual passion. 

Who ARE WE?

I'm Ana Graça, the director and writer of this film! I studied a BA in film and television in Brazil and now I'm completing my MA in Filmmaking here at Kingston University. I also work as a free-lance illustrator with a focus on children's illustrations so this film is not only a passion project of mine but also a way of expanding my work and the themes I usually deal in illustration into another medium - film.

But I'm not making this film alone! I'm lucky to have other talented filmmakers and classmates joining me as my crew. We have Zixuan Li as producer, An Hsu as cinematographer, Nan Zhao as sound recordist, Lewis Shih as gaffer, Razin Mancheri as camera assistant, Satyendra Nath Goud as editor, Yujin baek as music composer and Lihsing Wei as assistant sound recordist.

Together we make up a very international and cultural diverse crew, which it's very exciting!

MORE ABOUT THE FILM

This film is about loneliness and friendship - and how can they have many different shapes. This film is also about a highly observant child, who sees the world in a very unique way and about an odd friendship that is formed between two people who are in opposite sides of the spectrum of life - a young boy an elderly lady. 

Through Rupert’s little adventure - the plot of the film is Rupert venturing out alone on the streets to deliver the letter - I aim to portray the world through a child’s point-of-view. I do believe there’s an intrinsic feeling of loneliness that underlies the whole film and that is present in both characters. 

The script was carefully developed for six months for the Screen-writing module in the MA filmmaking course. And it's s also my debut at directing fiction!

We're already working hard for pre-production. The shooting dates will spam 4 days, from June 30 to July 3 at a lovely house in Kensington and post-production will start right after!

The film will be all finished by September and it will be screened at the ICA - Institute of Contemporary Arts - in London next year!

Where will the money go?

We have a lot of expenses so far so any donation would be of great help! Although the aim of this fund-raiser is high, still doesn't encompasses all the expenses, that are roughly:

• Payment for Actors: £600
• Transportation expenses: £300
• Food expenses: £300
• Props and Costume Design: £400
• Filming Licence at Street: £50
• Printing Expenses: £50

O que É ESSE PROJETO?

Estou juntando dinheiro para custear o curta-metragem de ficção que será usado como filme de graduação do curso de mestrado em Filmmaking.

"Lost Letters And Where Do They Go" conta a história de Rupert Bell, um aspirante a piloto de 7 anos de idade que está entediado em casa quando o correio entrega uma carta erroneamente. Quando Rupert se aventura nas ruas numa aventura para achar o destinatário certo - uma senhorinha aparentemente mal humorada chamada Clarabella - ele descobre que primeiras impressões podem enganar e que eles dividem uma paixão mútua.

QUEM SOMOS?

Eu sou Ana Graça, a escritora e diretora desse filme! Eu fiz meu bacharel em cinema e audiovisual na UFF e agora estou completando meu mestrado em cinema na Kingston University. Eu também trabalho como ilustradora free-lance com foco em ilustração infantil então esse filme também é uma maneira de eu expandir o meu trabalho e os temas que eu lido em outra mídia - filme.

Mas não estou fazendo esse filme sozinha! Tenho outros artistas talentosos na minha equipe. MAIS SOBRE ESSE FILME

Esse filme é sobre solidão e amizades - e como ela pode assumir formas muito diferentes. Esse filme também é sobre uma criança altamente observadora, que percebe o mundo de uma forma única e sobre uma amizade inusitada que se forma entre duas pessoas que estão em polos opostos do espectro da vida - um menino de 7 anos e uma senhorinha.

Através da pequena aventura de Rupert - a trama do filme é Rupert se aventurando sozinha na rua para entregar a carta - eu tenho a intenção de retratar o mundo através dos olhos de uma criança. Eu acredito que há um sentimento intrínseco de solidão que permeia o filme todo e que está presente nos dois personagens principais.

O roteiro foi cuidadosamente desenvolvido durante 6 meses para a aula de Roteiro do meu curso de mestrado. 

Nós já estamos em pre-produção. As gravações serão ao longo de 4 dias, desde Junho 30 até 3 de Julho em uma casa adorável em Kensington e a pós-produção vai começar logo depois!

O filme vai ficar pronto em Setembro e será projetado no ICA - Institute of Contemporary Arts - em Londres no ano que vem!
