ABOUT OUR FILM
Our film is set in a family based in the UK, the film uses the strings that control the leather dolls in shadow puppetry as an inspiration to show the theme of this movie: thinking about control and freedom, to explore the theme of freedom and control through three chapters and an epilogue, using traditional shadow puppetry to present this theme.
The story revolves around the bonds that children and parents have with each other.
In Chapter 1, from the child’s perspective, we see how they are controlled by homework and strict time-planning schedules set by parents, highlighting the limitations experienced by children in their upbringing.
Chapter 2 shifts to the parents' perspective, showing that they are subject to the same constraints and are bound not only by their physical limitations but also by the demands and dependency of their child, illustrating how parental responsibilities can also become a form of restriction.
Chapter 3 reaches a climax as both the child and parents attempt to break free from these mutual controls. Still, the story ultimately concludes with the realization that “nothing has changed,” emphasizing the enduring nature of familial constraints.
The film intends to encourage viewers to face the phenomenon of control and unfreedom objectively, prompting them to acknowledge and accept these inevitable family bonds rather than rejecting or resisting them, and to find a balance between understanding and acceptance.
Where will the money go?
If we raise enough money to cover the £1,000. In that case, we will allocate our budget wisely across these projects and create a detailed budget schedule to ensure that the budget for each production part of the film helps us to make the film the best it can be. If we are unable to reach our target, we will cut non-core overheads while ensuring that we meet the minimum quality requirements; for example, we will Choose free or low-cost locations and try to film in the homes of our existing friends.
