WHy girly pop?
Girly Pop follows two besties who are so not feeling the vibe of their boss' lame café so they bedazzle the hell out of it, but it like totally ends in bloodshed.
This comedy teen film is for those of us who grew up in the 2000s watching films like ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Bend it like Beckham’, and ‘Wild Child’.
We’re raising money for our graduation film which strives to challenge the stereotyping of hyper femininity. The film also aims to create authentic representation of the South Asian Diaspora through one of our protagonists Rana, something that is lacking greatly within British cinema.
Your story
Being two women in the film industry, we’ve experienced first hand how difficult it is to be taken seriously and have our voices heard. So we’ve written two protagonists that showcase the adversities that we have faced. One the films central themes highlights the girls' invisibility in their male dominated workplace. Help us fund this film and represent the girlies!
As someone who is part of the British south Asian diaspora, I'm so excited to have a character like Rana, who allows me to celebrate my culture and South Asian women who have been denied accurate representation.
