Project Summary
We are raising £250 to support the production and growth of our short film, The Weight of Feeling. The positive response we received from our initial screening confirmed the importance of representation in this documentary. This documentary aims to amplify the voices of neurodivergent women, and with your help, we can expand its reach.
My Story
Hi, I'm Lily Mellor, the director of the film. This project has been in what I call my mind's 'archive' for the past five years. It's deeply personal to me as, for a very long time, I felt completely misunderstood. When I first met my friend, Emily, we were able to connect through our shared experience of life, and I no longer felt lost. This made me realise how important representation is, as I realised not everyone has an Emily in their life that they can talk to.
This film is my way of reaching out to those struggling with their mental health to remind them that they aren't alone. It also celebrates the profound strength of female friendship and the importance of having someone to confide in. My hope is that it resonates with anyone who's ever felt isolated, offering them a sense of belonging and understanding.
Where Will The Money Go?
If we meet our minimum target, the funds raised will cover essential production costs: props, set & location, travel.
Location: £60
Props: £30
Food and Drink: £20
Travel: £40 (to reimburse production costs).
If we exceed our target, we plan to allocate additional funds to submit the film to various film festivals, allowing us to broaden its visibility and impact:
London Short Film Festival: £25
NFFTY: £40
Sheffield Documentary Festival: £35
Any extra funds beyond our target will be used to create an extended cut of the film, which will further explore the themes and perspectives of neurodivergence.
Help Us Succeed!
There are many ways you can support the success of our film. While any donations are deeply appreciated, we understand that not everyone may be able to contribute financially. If you're unable to donate, we would be grateful if you could share our fundraiser with family and friends who might be interested. Additionally, if you have skills or resources that could help with the production of our extended cut in the near future, your assistance would be invaluable.
