Deer's Cry
I am looking to raise funds to aid the production of my graduation film. Deer's Cry is an experimental exploration of the Isle of Man. Shot on 16mm, the film harks back to a nostalgic time, a place where we have been but cannot be.
Who AM I?
My name is Tom Wolff, I'm a BA Filmmaking student in my final year. I will be directing, shooting and editing this project, working with a sound recordist, Alfie Mattacks, and a composer, Jon Upton.
Your story
My connection to the Isle of Man comes from my Grandmother. A Manxwoman who emigrated in her youth and settled in England. My recent trips to the island have invigorated me to produce some material evidence of my connection. Spending increasing amounts of time on the island has given me an expanded awareness of the relationship we share with the landscapes we live in. My aim is to share this connection to the island as an entity unto itself. Creating a depiction of the land in its fullness, abstracting the visual and audible sense of the island to produce a film that lets you feel the island.
