An alarm awakens her memory of a disaster

A short summary of your project

An alarm awakens her memory of a disaster. The stress of the spirit and the loss of her lover make her see a different kind of daily life. Eventually, after imagination, hallucinations and daydreams. A new day dawns on her.

Your story

This film is drawn heavily from my memories and my real life. I experienced a very serious earthquake as a child, and I continued to experience earthquakes as I grew up. At the same time, in 2020, COVID affected most of the world as a more widespread disaster. My "reality" has also been shaken. At this time, the notion of "home" has taken on a paradoxical multiplicity of meanings. In an earthquake, "home" is dangerous, full of survival-threatening possibilities. In an epidemic, "home" becomes the only place of refuge. So I tried to document this anxiety about survival and to construct and explore the space of "home" in an abstract way.

The main character of this film is the space, "home". All the images can be seen as a consciousness and thought process in this space. The objective view of the camera and the first-person view of the VHS camera represents a struggle between human and space.
