Graduation Short Film: Doppelganger
Spoken by our Director and Writer James: "Doppelganger" is one of the many passionate projects I want to pursue as a filmmaker. This story is inspired by my life so far as a high-functioning autistic person. I was diagnosed with autism when I was three years old and growing up I struggled with a lack of companionship, due to the lack of communication skills caused by autism. This resulted in my mental health which had and still does suffer from time to time due to those reasons.
With this film, I want to bring forth the message about how important companionship is, in a society that persists to house the ever growing mindset of individuals keeping to themselves. Fueled further thanks to the pandemic. Doppelganger will be depicting the issues people with autism face in making connections, and facing loneliness. The crew are passionate about making this film as, after the lockdown, we have all felt the sadness of feeling isolated. We are sure many will be able to resonate with these feelings. This coming of age comedy aims to inspire hope in people struggling with feeling different.
