FASHION BA GRADUATE COLLECTION BY PHOEBE WHITE

WARPED CONTROL

I'm raising money to help fund my BA graduate collection, a personal response that focuses on the issues surrounding the impact of domestic abuse on mental health and how this subsequently affects the functionality of daily life for survivors. Although my collection is projected through a subjective lens, I believe it has the ability to reconcile and open conversations surrounding the ongoing imprint that domestic abuse leaves on survivors mental health, and how this can create warped perceptions surrounding the present and the future.

I'm a final year fashion student at Kingston School of Art specialising in womenswear including tailoring and flou. Consistently drawn to the female form, I design with this in mind to enhance my storytelling about my personal experience as a woman.

My projects aim is to resonate, uplift and inspire through not only my project theme but also my choice of collaborators. I have opted for a women exclusive team to promote solidarity between other women and open up job opportunities within a male dominated space. Currently I have a small team on board:

- Lily Redman, digital photographer.

- Emma Filer, film photographer.

- Jaz Rubin, model.

- Angel Nwankwo, intern.

- Abbie Whitfield, intern.

I also aim to create hope for domestic abuse victims and survivors by showcasing the evolution of my final collection as a metaphor of personal growth and development, depicting that it's possible to evolve as a person following on from traumatic events.

Where will the money go?

All money raised will be a massive help to ensure everything within my final project plan are able to go ahead such as the purchasing of considered fabrication and the funding of my editorial/lookbook for my promotional package. This means that all of my work surrounding a societal issue that isn't spoken about enough will be at a high standard ready for publication online via Instagram and within my portfolio, meaning it will accessible to a wide scope of people and hopefully bring about important conversations surrounding domestic abuse.

costs:

  • Fabrication: £770
  • Photography Studio: £280
  • Professional Model: £250
  • Hair & Makeup: £100
  • Transportation & Sustenance (for all project members on shoot day): £100

Although my target to raise £1,500 is less then all costs, any donation will help tremendously towards my project.

Rewards

Anyone who is able to contribute towards such a personal project will receive a copy of my editorial/ lookbook as a huge thank you.
