A short summary of your project
Le Radici is a film that tells the true story of Pierino Capitelli, an Italian immigrant who moved to London in the 1960s in search of a better life. There, he built a family and a successful business while preserving the traditions and emotional ties to his small hamlet in Italy. Through a combination of archival material and present-day footage, the film retraces Pierino’s journey across generations. My team and I are seeking funding to recover vital archival footage and to reconnect Pierino with his family, heritage, and cultural roots.
Who are you?
Salve, my name is Matteo Tedeschini. I am the director of Le Radici and the grandson of Pierino Capitelli. I want to share his story because, to me, it represents determination, hard work, and love, values that have inspired me throughout my life.
However, this is not only his story. It reflects the experiences of countless people who have migrated, whether through their own journeys or those of their families. Pierino’s life stands as a testament to a wider shared history, one that many can deeply relate to. In today’s political climate in England, preserving and telling these stories is more important than ever, ensuring they remain seen, heard, and remembered.
