About:

For my collection, I have up-cycled dead-stock and sponsored fabrics by means of fabric manipulation like the dye and patchwork. These creative approach has helped me bring down the cost of my final collection by a lot.

As we have had to be on lockdown, I have seen the cost of a lot of material that I needed go up a lot. I found myself having to buy equipments that I would have otherwise had in university just to be able to work from home.

I am hereby trying to rise money to help me with the costs and to be able to do the best I can for this final year.

My project

Shortly after the Black lives matter protests that took place all over the world last year, there was also a protest called the End Wars movement which took place in Nigeria against the police brutality that was happening on a day to day basis.

I felt like I needed to be a part of the protest, and felt very powerless. So, I decided to express myself through my craft, which is fashion design.

So I created my final collection around that topic of empowering the people against the brutality and to go back to the cultural roots. I got looked at the Nigerian traditional menswear silhouette called Agbada, the dyeing technique called Adire and embroidery along with some utility wear, military details to create a new movement of people, like the black panther in the 70s that will protect and give the power back to the people.

Where will the money go?

I will be using the money for:

Trims, fabrics etc: £500+

Electronic equipments: £400

Promotional package: £300

Fashion show, accessories etc: £300

...
